Former West Ham striker Carlton Cole signs for Celtic
Carlton Cole has signed for Celtic after having talks with the league champions over a move to Glasgow.
Cole has signed until the summer of 2017 with the Hoops and will hope to help Celtic both domestically and in Europe if called upon. Although he will have to wait until at least January to feature for Celtic in Europe as he was not registered in the initial 23-man squad. The 32-year-old striker was a free agent after being released by West Ham and will likely be a third option for Ronny Deila behind Leigh Griffiths and Nadir Ciftci.
Deila drafted Cole in to train with the squad several weeks ago at Lennoxtown and the two sides agreed terms for a permanent move.
Having spent the last nine years of his career at West Ham, the Englishman will offer an alternative to the two strikers already playing for the Hoops.
His last competitive goal came in the FA Cup third round replay against Everton back in January.
He is an experienced striker at 31 having started his professional career at Chelsea before his move to the Hammers in 2006 after several loan spells.
In his 384 career appearances spanning over 14 years, Cole has scored 85 goals and has also got seven caps for the England national team.
