Ronny Deila has praised his star striker Leigh Griffiths following his brace in Celtic’s 3-0 win over Stranraer in the Scottish Cup fourth round.
Speaking after the game, Deila praised Griffiths and spoke of his pleasure at having him available for selection again after a period on the sidelines with a hamstring injury.
As quoted by the Daily Record, he said:
He is my dream striker. He is important for us, he scores goals and works really hard for the team so I am very happy to have him back.
Deila also praised Griffiths’ strike partner, Carlton Cole, who scored his first goal in a Hoops shirt. He also noted how crucial the experience of Cole is, with his natural instinct for goals being a great help to Celtic.
I think Carlton did okay. He played well together with Leigh. They scored three between them, so I can’t be very irritated by that. You can see Carlton is experienced and he knows how to score and be a striker.
Celtic currently sit top of the Scottish Premier League, with 46 points from 20 matches. They are three points above second-placed Aberdeen with a game in hand.
