Ljuban Crepulja was spotted in Glasgow last night and is expected to complete his move to Celtic in the coming days.
And with what was on display at Paradise last night, he would have been very impressed as the Hoops hammered Hamilton 8-1, with Leigh Griffiths bagging his fourth hat-trick in his Celtic career.
He flew over with his agents for talks and to train with te squad as confirmed by the club’s official website.
With the Croatian out of contract this summer he could move to the league champions for a small fee of £300,000 or on a pre-contract deal according to the Daily Mail.
The 22-year-old currently plays for Slaven Belupo and was linked with a move to Dinamo Zagreb earlier this summer – the same club Jozo Simunovic moved from on deadline day.
The defensive midfielder was linked with a move to Celtic after scouts noticed him while they watched 23-year-old midfielder Ivan Mocinic.
He has expressed his interest in remaining in Croatia in order to help his chances of breaking into Croatia’s national squad for Euro 2016 this summer.
Crepulja was spotted by Celtic scouts during a 1-1 draw between Rijeka and Slaven on December 13th.
Crepulja has been capped by his national Under-20 team twice and has made 87 appearances to date for Belupo, scoring three goals and assisting on eight occasions.
His primary position is defensive midfield, but he has also operated in attacking midfield and in the centre of midfield.
He was attracting interest from several Championship clubs including Fulham and Blackburn last summer, however neither club made a move for the midfielder.
