Nadir Ciftci’s terrible season continued after being hit with a fine and a ban for verbally abusing a referee.

The Turkish FA fined Ciftci  £6,000 and banned him for three games as a result of his conduct towards a Turkish Lig referee following his dismissal last week.

The 24-year-old striker has played a total of 72 minutes in two games for the Turkish side, lasting just 34 minutes on his debut before being subbed off.

Last Friday, the striker received two yellow cards just one minute apart and was sent off for this high challenge on Antalyaspor’s ‘keeper on the 83rd minute.

Eskisehirspor held on to get their first win in four games but any plans they have for Ciftci for the remainder of the season could be scuppered by this terrible start.

Since making his summer from Dundee United to Paradise, the Turk has struggled to adapt to life at a big club and has scored just four times in 22 appearances.

Colin-Kazim Richards arrival last month on deadline day, along with the return of Stefan Scepovic and Anthony Stokes in the summer from loan spells, will further limit Ciftci’s chances at Celtic.

This incident, along with the training ground incident with Emilio Izaguirre and the bite on Jim McAlister in the Dundee Derby, show a clear track record of terrible behaviour and should be swiftly moved on from Paradise in the summer.
