Celtic currently have a number of players who are surplus to requirements and should be sold or moved on this summer.
There are 30 players currently in the first-team squad with a further nine players on loan and youngster Kristoffer Ajer set to join the club in June.
With a squad of nearly 40 players, decisions need to be made on how to trim it down, whilst keeping the team rich in talent and competitiveness.
Some players are out of contract this summer and haven’t done enough to earn a new one, whilst some don’t possess quality needed to warrant a place in the team.
Players out on loan from Celtic have also failed to do enough to earn a place in next season’s team and should be sold too.
Others have failed to break into the first-team and find themselves on the fringes of the squad.
Here are the 10 players we think will or should leave Celtic Park this summer.
Tyler Blackett
The centre-back arrived with some promise but hasn’t played a first-team game since November and will return to Manchester United at the end of his loan spell.
Charlie Mulgrew
The utility man went from the Player of the Year in 2011/12 to struggling with a recurring thigh injury and hasn’t matched the same level of performance in recent years. With his contract up in the summer, I expect Celtic to let him leave on a free transfer this summer.
Derk Boerrigter
What needs to be said about Derk that hasn’t already been said? He hasn’t played since the playoff tie against Maribor and has taken a paycheque without doing a single thing in almost two years. Without doubt one of the worst signings if not the worst in our history.
James Forrest
The winger rejected a new deal last month and will seemingly move away from Celtic in pursuit of football elsewhere. He’s had his moments and scored vital goals against Ajax and Shakhter Karagandy, but the moments of magic have been few and far between for a player that promised a lot.
Efe Ambrose
He’s always been an unpredictable player in a Celtic jersey and it’s best the Nigerian leaves this summer with just one year remaining on his deal.
Stefan Scepovic
Having joined Sporting Gijon on a year-long loan deal, Scepovic has failed to impress me enough to warrant a place ahead of the other strikers at Celtic and should be sold in the summer. He never got a proper chance at the club, but sometimes you need to make a chance, rather than wait for one to present itself.
Carlton Cole
His contract isn’t up until next summer but Celtic have the option to release him and should do so this summer. Cole’s chances were limited further when Colin Kazim-Richards signed and the decision to sign the Englishman in the first place was baffling.
Nadir Ciftci
Another nightmare signing in the last year and another one with questions to be answered. His loan move to Turkey has been a disaster and isn’t the quality striker needed to complement Leigh Griffiths.
Stuart Findlay
The youngster contract is up in the summer and it is unlikely Celtic will offer him a new deal with the other options available to Celtic at centre-back.
Darnell Fisher
Currently on loan at St Johnstone, Fisher may be needed at Celtic after this summer with Mikael Lustig aging but I expect Celtic to enter the market for another right-back this summer or risk being left short in the position.
