Erik Sviatchenko has revealed why he thinks he has picked up so many bookings since his move to Celtic in January.
Since his arrival at Celtic Park in January after completing a move away from Danish champions FC Midtjylland, the 24-year-old defender has shown signs of true quality in his game.
However, Sviatchenko has received five bookings in 10 appearances, four of which have been in the league, and is one yellow card away from a one-game suspension.
Speaking to Danish outlet Tipsbladet, Sviatchenko pointed to the reason as to why he has received so many bookings.
It must have been a mix of poor preparation and that I was not fully aware of the players I have faced. Although I’ve seen clips of them, they are new players I have not played against in the past.
It goes a little bit faster here, but it’s not because I have not played in Europe before. I stopped (getting yellow cards) in the last game, so it helps.
The Danish international has featured in ten games for Celtic so far but has been reckless on several occasions, racking up a less than impressive amount of five yellow cards already.
He is currently on international duty for Denmark and was an unused substitute in their 2-1 win over Iceland and will return to Glasgow as they prepare to take on Scotland next Tuesday night.
When he returns to club duty, he will be gearing up for a crucial game against Hearts at Paradise next Saturday afternoon.
