Celtic consider move for Irish defender
According to The Scotsman, Celtic are weighing up a move for Blackburn defender Shane Duffy this summer as they look to strengthen their defence.
Brendan Rodgers has made solving his defensive problems one his priorities in the transfer window this summer.
He is also thought to be interested in Kolo Toure, on a free transfer from Liverpool.
Celtic are thought to be very keen on Duffy and think he could improve the quality of their back-four ahead of next season. Ireland’s exit from Euro 2016 could hasten any deal as he’ll shortly be arriving home from France.
Duffy had a fantastic campaign with Blackburn last season, playing 41 Championship matches over the course of the season. He has also won three caps for his country this year, showing his high pedigree.
It is unknown how much Duffy would cost Celtic, but the 24-year-old would certainly add quality to Rodgers’ defence next season.
