Johansen quits Celtic for Fulham
Stefan Johansen has left Celtic in favour of a fresh start away from Paradise in English football.
Entering the final year of his contract, the Norwegian international did hold talks with the club over his future, and the outcome of those talks has now become clearer.
Johansen has joined Fulham for a fee of around £2 million after undergoing talks and a medical yesterday (Thursday) with the Championship side and the news was confirmed by their official website.
A knee injury and the birth of his child has limited his first-team action so far this season to just one appearance against Astana.
The 25-year-old midfielder is coming off a disappointing season in the green and white Hoops, as he struggled to replicate his form from the previous season when he picked up the Player of the Year Award.
Rodgers has analysed the bloated squad left behind by Ronny Deila and is trimming it where necessary, which has seen a number of players leave Paradise this summer – and Johansen the next to leave.
Johansen joined Celtic in January 2014 under Neil Lennon and was joined in the summer of the same year by his former boss at Stromsgodset, Ronny Deila.
He made 114 appearances in the last two-and-a-half-years, scoring 19 goals and assisting on 22 occasions – with his last league goal coming on Flag Day against Ross County.
