Liverpool defender linked with Celtic move
Celtic are looking to complete the signing of Andre Wisdom according to the Liverpool Echo, who would become their fifth permanent signing of the summer.
The 23-year-old Liverpool defender has worked with Brendan Rodgers previously at the Premier League side, who is currently surplus to requirements in Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Wisdom has made 22 appearances for Liverpool since making his debut against BSC Young Boys, and scored in the same game in the Europa League.
He spent several loan spells away from Liverpool at Derby County, Norwich City and West Bromwich Albion, making 78 appearances in total for the three clubs.
Rodgers has opted to alternate between Mikael Lustig and Saidy Janko at right-back so far this season, however he doesn’t seem to favour either option as a long-term solution.
Lustig has operated in the heart of the Celtic defence and looked more comfortable and doesn’t have the legs anymore to match the demands Rodgers has off his full-backs.
Wisdom would also join his former team-mate Kolo Toure at Celtic, as well as Moussa Dembele, Scott Sinclair and Dorus de Vries who have already signed this summer.
He could join the club before the transfer deadline closes next week, and could be involved in the first game after the international break against Rangers.
I think we’ve signed him cause McCarthy deal fell through. Still hoping there’s a marquee signing
I hope that is not the big signing we were expecting we need another top class striker for European campaign not sure any of our strikers are up to European class we need to show ambition and we could get through group stages
