Celtic move for Brazilian star
Celtic are reportedly interested in Brazilian and Juventus star Hernanes as they attempt to add world-class quality to their squad.
The 31-year-old is currently surplus to requirements for their manager Massimiliano Allegri, who could offload the attacking midfielder.
Hernanes began his career at Sao Paulo before moving to Italy where he has spent the majority of his career.
According to a report from Italian website Calcio Mercato Web Celtic could sign Hernanes before Wednesday’s deadline.
Genoa are thought to be close to signing Hernanes on loan if they lose Tomas Rincon to Crystal Palace as expected, but are still negotiating with Juventus over the percentage they would pay of his wages.
The departure of Paul Pogba has given the Italians the funds necessary to strengthen, adding Miralem Pjanic and Mario Lemina.
The Brazilian midfielder has played in the Serie A for the last for the last six years at the Turin-based side, Inter Milan and Lazio.
He has also been capped by his country 27 times, scoring two goals, and could provide Rodgers with the creative nouse and stability required in midfield to compete against the Champions League elites.
Earlier today Celtic completed the signing of Cristian Gamboa from Premier League side West Brom and will look to get in at least one more player before tomorrow’s deadline.
