Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths is relishing the League Cup Semi-Final clash at Hampden against Rangers on Sunday.

The Scottish international has seen his usual starting place in the team go to French under-21 forward Moussa Dembele due to his clinical form, though he is hopeful of starting up top alongside Dembele this weekend.

He was quoted by the Herald Scotland, saying:

There’s been a lot of talk about the manager fitting us both into the team. I think both of us up top against Rangers is something the fans would want to see.

Rangers wouldn’t be expecting it. The two people who would find it most enjoyable would be myself and Moussa because we could go and run riot.

The Hoops suffered a blow in their chances of securing European football after Christmas when German side Borussia Monchengladbach slotted two goals past Craig Gordon and won the match 2-0 in Glasgow.

It was a night to forget for Brendan’s men, who will look to bounce back this weekend against their Glasgow rivals.

Griffiths will look to earn his first start for Celtic since their 4-1 over Aberdeen in August and will hope to regain his prolific form. They face Mark Warburton’s side for the first time since the emphatic 5-1 win at Celtic Park in September.

We have the chance to reach a national final. That should be all the motivation you need and especially since it’s against our greatest rivals. They will be wanting to put one over us after the result they had here earlier this season.
