The goal scorer hit the post on 10 minutes following a quick a one-two with Nir Bitton on the edge of the box.
Tom Rogic should have scored after 18 minutes from Ryan Christie’s delicate through ball, but the Aussie fired over from eight-yards.
Griffiths gave Celtic the lead on the stroke of half-time with a wonderful free-kick from 25-yards out that nestled into the bottom right corner.
Rogic went off injured from a challenge by Darren O’Dea that led to that free-kick and left the stadium in a moon boot.
On 56 minutes Bitton doubled Celtic’s lead with a composed finish from 18-yards into the bottom right corner.
Celtic continued to dominate proceedings in the second half as they extended their unbeaten domestic run.
Marcus Haber narrowed the deficit to one for Dundee after a slip from Cristian Gamboa on 68 minutes and troubled a tired Celtic side late on.
Here are the player ratings from today’s game.
Craig Gordon 6/10
Nothing to do in the first-half of note. Could to nothing about the deflected goal. Came off his line well and narrowed the space for El Bakhtaoui.
Cristian Gamboa 7/10
Good start to the game going forward and defensively. Got two dangerous crosses into the box. Great link up play with Mackay-Steven and Rogic to get space to get the ball into the box. Slipped inside the box which gave Haber the chance to score. Used his pace well late on going forward and in defence.
Jozo Simunovic 6.5/10
Took the ball forward from defence and moved into midfield to offer another option. Comfortable in defence.
Erik Sviatchenko 7/10
Strong tackle in midfield as the ball broke and won back possession to prevent a counter-attack. Won his aerial battles. Ball deflected off him into the net but couldn’t do much about it.
Emilio Izaguirre 7/10
Good game going forward down the left flank, strong defensively.
Nir Bitton 7.5/10
Perfectly weighted pass to Griffiths who should have scored. Moved the ball quickly in midfield and kept the tempo in the game. Scored his first goal of the season with a composed finish.
Stuart Armstrong 7/10
Captained the side in Brown’s absence through suspension. Brilliant tackle in midfield and got Celtic on the attack. Had two efforts from distance inside 12 minutes. Could well be a long-term replacement for Brown.
Gary Mackay-Steven 6.5/10
Bright start to the game getting on the ball and caused problems on both wings. Linked up well with Armstrong, Griffiths and Christie. Looked sharp and his best game since his return from injury.
Tom Rogic 6.5/10
Moved the ball quickly in midfield and looked to play a killer pass through the Dundee defence. Should have opened the scoring from Christie’s through ball. Skipped inside and almost guided the ball beyond the ‘keeper. Came off at half-time with an injury.
Ryan Christie 6.5/10
Good start to the game getting on the ball and linked up well with Griffiths and Mackay-Steven. Brilliant ball through the defence to Rogic who shot over the bar.
Leigh Griffiths 7.5/10
Inches from opening the scoring after a quick one-two with Bitton and should have hit the target. Great free-kick to give Celtic the lead. Good game and scored for the third consecutive game.
Callum McGregor 5.5/10
Came on for Rogic at half-time after the Aussie picked up an injury. In and out of the game. Needed to be better with his final ball.
Scott Sinclair 5/10
First game back since his hamstring injury and came on with 23 minutes remaining. Looked to cut inside and link up with the front men. Had a good chance in the last minute to score but couldn’t test the ‘keeper.
Moussa Dembele N/A
Came on for Griffiths with 13 minutes remaining in the game. Linked up well with Sinclair but his shot from outside the box was tame. Had two further shots blocked.
