Brendan Rodgers has spoken out about Celtic’s chances of improving the squad further before the window closes next week.

With Celtic looking to improve their squad to compete in Europe, they have been linked with a move for 19-year-old Nigerian striker Henry Onyekuru.

The first reported bid was around £1 million, well short of Belgian side K.A.S. Eupen’s £3million valuation of the exciting striker.

As quoted by the Herald Scotland about the reported bid for Onyekuru, the 43year-old said:

I wouldn’t comment even if we had. Nothing to add on it.

We’ve obviously got another week or so. I want to add to the squad to keep the freshness and the quality.

But only if it’s the right time and players available and the right level of affordability. If not we’ll just have to wait until the summer.

Celtic have made one signing this month in Ivorian defensive midfielder Kouassi Eboue, and will pursue more players before the window closes.

Rodgers side progressed to the last-16 of the Scottish Cup courtesy of a stunning goal from Scott Sinclair, and late goals for Moussa Dembele and Stuart Armstrong.

Patrick Roberts was influential off the bench and played a big role on creating Dembele’s 20th goal this season and assisted the third goal.

Celtic are in action again on Wednesday at Paradise against St Johnstone, with the chance to win their 20th consecutive game.

Another three points would give the Hoops a chance to beat the Lisbon Lions’ 50 year record of 26th consecutive domestic games without defeat.
