Ahead of Celtic’s weekend fixture against Motherwell, we at Read Celtic will role-play (not that kind) and predict the starting XI.
We will be playing the role of Brendan Rodgers and choosing the starting XI, as well as how the team are expected to line-up on the pitch.
It also includes a bit of insight into what we expect from each player, and what they can do to make the difference.
The Hoops thrashed Inverness 6-0 in their previous game and booked their place in the Scottish Cup quarter-finals, where they will face St. Mirren in Glasgow.
Brendan Rodgers’ side hold a 24-point lead at the top of the table and are yet to be beaten domestically this season.
Mark McGhee’s Motherwell sit 9th in the table and where beaten 7-2 by Aberdeen on Wednesday night.
Has done well to retain his place in the team and should start between the sticks as per usual.
Mikael Lustig
Opened the scoring against Inverness last week and will look to keep his place in the starting eleven with another solid performance.
Dedryck Boyata
Played some good football since earning a place in the team. No real reason he should be dropped given his current form.
Erik Sviatchenko
Was comfortable and composed at the back last weekend and should be given another start.
Kieran Tierney
Bagged his first goal of the season in last weekend’s 6-0 win and performed well overall. Has been superb on the left since returning from injury.
Scott Brown
Scored from a fine strike on Sunday and dominated in midfield once again. Will look to do the same on Saturday.
Nir Bitton
Put in another solid shift in midfield last week. Set Lustig up for the opening goal with a superb pass. Will look to link-up with the wide players again.
Liam Henderson
Played some good football last week and got into dangerous positions. Should be given another opportunity to perform from the start this Saturday.
James Forrest
Assisted three of the six goals on Sunday. Could’ve got on the scoresheet himself but missed his chance. Proving his worth to the team and should be granted another start.
Scott Sinclair
Not only has he been a threat going forward but has proven himself handy when defending recently too. His link-up with Tierney continued at the weekend and has caused many teams problems.
Moussa Dembele
Bagged his second hat-trick in two games against Caley and was lethal up top. His positioning was superb and overall play was a massive positive going forward. Will start again this weekend.
