Ahead of Celtic’s home clash with Partick Thistle on Wednesday night, we at Read Celtic will role-play (not that kind) and predict the starting XI.
We will be playing the role of Brendan Rodgers and will be choosing the starting XI, as well as predicting how the team will line-up on the pitch.
It also includes a bit of insight into what we expect from each player, and what they can do to make the difference.
The Hoops officially wrapped up the League title in stunning fashion after thrashing Ian Cathro’s Hearts 5-0 at Tynecastle on Sunday.
Rodgers’ side now return to Celtic Park to face fellow Glasgow opponents Partick Thistle, who are sixth in the Premiership and are just four points off of fifth place Hearts.
To understand our prediction, you also need to see the latest team news ahead of the game. Here is our predicted eleven in a 4-3-3 formation for Sunday’s match.
Craig Gordon
Did well to keep Hearts at bay on Sunday. The shot-stopper has done well when called upon this season and has clearly cemented his place as number one.
Cristian Gamboa
Should come into the team to give Lustig a well deserved rest.
Dedryck Boyata
Has been solid at the back recently. No reason he should be dropped for the midweek game.
Jozo Simunovic
Been superb since winning his place back in the team. Forming a good partnership with Boyata at the back. Will look to continue performing.
Kieran Tierney
Played higher up the pitch in midfield on Sunday, though could return to left-back against Thistle. Will look to get involved as always.
Scott Brown
Was dominant in midfield against Hearts like always. Will look to inspire is teammates to a home victory.
Eboue Kouassi
The £3m man signed from Krasnodar in January has yet to start a game for the Hoops, as he has made two substitute against St. Mirren and Dundee respectively. Should be given a chance to show what he’s about from the start.
Stuart Armstrong
His superb strike against Hearts was his 13th goal in all competitions this season. He’s broken into the first-team and become a regular starter who doesn’t shy away when needed.
James Forrest
Has been a good asset going forward as well as in defence this season. Will hope to get plenty of balls into the box on Wednesday.
Scott Sinclair
Bagged a hat-trick on Sunday and continues performing each week. Has had that left-wing spot to himself all season and it doesn’t look like anyone else will steal it.
Patrick Roberts
Coped well in the centre forward spot against Hearts. Scored from a fantastic effort on the edge of the box. Will look to use his skill to his advantage as always.
