Celtic were victorious over city rivals Rangers in the Scottish Cup semi-final on Sunday after defeating Pedro Caixinha’s side 2-0 at Hampden.

A fine strike from midfielder Callum McGregor opened the scoring for the Hoops after just 11 minutes.

Leigh Griffiths was brought down by James Tavernier in the penalty area early in the second half, which allowed Scott Sinclair to convert from the spot.

Though after the game, Tavernier made some bold claims about Griffiths regarding the penalty decision.

As quoted by The Scotsman, he said:

I thought it wasn’t a penalty, I thought I got the ball first.

Griffiths thought it wasn’t a penalty when I spoke to him.

And Griffiths wasn’t one to sit back and let this go without comment.

The striker took to Twitter afterwards to give his thoughts on the game.

Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic will now face Aberdeen in the Scottish Cup final on May 27th.

The Irishman is just one win away from becoming just the third Celtic manager in history to win a treble, and the first since Martin O’Neill in 2001.
