Patrick Roberts has been in fantastic form for Celtic this month but may well miss out on securing a domestic treble under Brendan Rodgers.

The winger made his 50th appearance at the weekend and has scored two goals and provided four assists his last five appearances.

However the 20-year-old could miss next month’s Scottish Cup final due to his involvement in England’s Under-20 squad for the World Cup finals in South Korea.

Celtic aren’t obliged by the English FA to release Roberts, and will look to secure a clean sweep when they face Aberdeen on May 27th, which is one day after England’s final group game against the hosts.

Speaking to the Scotsman about his situation, Roberts said:

I can’t really say too much about that at the moment. We just have to see what happens. All I know is that it’s not up to me.
It’s been the perfect loan move for me. I honestly couldn’t have asked for any more. I have come to a big club where there is a lot of expectation and you are playing under big pressure. It’s been a great loan spell at Celtic.

There is still a lot to play for. Winning the Scottish Cup would just top it all off. This season has been great under the manager. I’ve learned a lot, scored goals, created them and also played in a lot of big games.
It’s huge and we have managed to have a lot of success. It’s worked out really well for me. I see a big difference in myself. I am a lot more mature and I’m just really happy with my progress.

After beating Rangers in the Scottish Cup semi-final last weekend, a result that was celebrated around the world, Celtic are still on course for an historic treble and unbeaten domestic season, needing to get a result in their six remaining league games and another win at Hampden against Aberdeen to secure the feat, and they’ve heavy favourites to secure the Scottish Cup if you visit the Paddy Power Android app and check out the odds.

It will be the Hoops’ first domestic treble since 2001, when Martin O’Neill won all three domestic trophies in his maiden season in charge.

Roberts will look to remain in he squad for this Saturday’s trip to Ibrox to face Rangers for the second time in less than a week after an impressive performance at the weekend.

During his time at Celtic the youngster has scored 13 goals and provided 17 assists so far and will look to add more to his tally before his season ends.
