Scott Brown successfully appeals red card
Celtic captain Scott Brown’s red card suspension has been overturned after an appeal earlier today and reduced to a yellow card meaning he is free to play this weekend.
The tackle was reduced to a yellow card as per the SFA, which has triggered a two-match suspension after going over the disciplinary threshold and he will miss the two following games against St Johnstone and Aberdeen.
Brown was sent off for a foul on Ross County’s Liam Boyce 11 days ago, but was allowed to play in the weekend’s Scottish Cup semi-final win over Rangers as he appealed the decision and a hearing could not be scheduled due to the Easter break.
Brown put in a man of the match performance as Celtic won 2-0, keeping their hopes of a domestic treble alive and will face Aberdeen in next month’s final.
Celtic will face city rivals Rangers in the Glasgow Derby this weekend and will be able to call upon the services of their captain after his suspension was overturned.
Brendan Rodgers’ side are hoping to go the entire league season unbeaten and will go to Ibrox on Saturday, where they will have Brown available.
Brown has played in 50 games for Celtic this season and is having arguably the best campaign of his career so having him fit and available will be a huge boost.
