Roberts reveals his drive ahead of final home game
Celtic face Hearts on Sunday in what is expected to be an exciting day for the Hoops supporters.
The champions will lift the Scottish Premiership trophy after the final whistle. However, it could be a disappointing end to the season if the team lose their unbeaten domestic run.
Celtic have met Hearts three times this season and took nine points. Each game the Hoops winning margin increased.
The first match in August was the opening day of the Scottish Premiership season, and the scoreline was 2-1 at Tynecastle. The teams then met in January at Celtic Park, with Brendan Rodgers’ men winning 4-0. At the beginning of April, the two teams met again at Tynecastle, and the result was 5-0.
The Celtic supporters will be hoping for another large win, to end the league season unbeaten and make it an even more joyous day at Parkhead.
Patrick Roberts told the club’s official website that the Celtic squad are focused ahead of the final game of the season.
It’s been an incredible season and with one league game left we need to keep ourselves focused and have the same mentality as we’ve had all season, and we’ll see what happens on Sunday.
It’s been a good season for all of us and there are some parts that are better than others, but right now, I’m feeling confident and I’m scoring goals, which is good for me.
The gaffer knows what we need to do, and he’ll do his best to make sure that there aren’t any slip-ups, and that we go into the last game in the same way that we’ve gone into every game.
Roberts enjoys playing against Hearts and has scored twice against them, so far this season.
The 20-year-old’s loan contract is set to expire at Celtic, however, the club are determined to keep him for at least another season.
The Englishman did not reveal his future plans, or give any indication as to where he would be next season:
I’ve played a lot of games since I joined the club, and I’ve contributed goals too, which is what I came here to do. I also came here to win trophies and I’ve certainly done that. At the end of the season I can look back and say my time here has been very successful and I’m glad I came here.
If Sunday is my last game at Celtic Park, then of course it will be a nice day for me, and I’d like to sign-off in style by showing the fans what I can do. I’m really looking forward to the day and I just want to enjoy it, and enjoy the trophy.
Roberts’ last game for Celtic will be in the Scottish Cup final unless the Hoops do manage to loan him for another season or seal a permanent deal.
