Josh Kerr leaves Celtic for Brighton
Defender Josh Kerr has left Celtic and joined Premier League newcomers Brighton & Hove Albion.
The Seagulls confirmed it on their Twitter page and the youngster will join the club’s U23’s squad after rejecting a new contract from Celtic in favour of a move down south.
It comes just a week after fellow youth player Theo Archibald signed for Brentford after his contract at the club also ran out.
Kerr left Celtic for a four-month spell on loan to fourth-tier side East Kilbride at the beginning of the season, but he made just one appearance during his time at the club.
After signing a three-year professional deal with Celtic upon arrival, the 19-year-old failed to break into the first-team at Parkhead.
The lifelong Celtic fan was part of the development squad that went unbeaten in the youth league last season and came third this season, three points off league winners Ross County.
They also lifted the Scottish Youth Cup this season, beating Rangers 3-0.
He was tracked by a number of clubs over the season, including Burnley and Leeds, but will now join former Celtic midfielder Beram Kayal in Brighton.
