Tom Rogic scored in stoppage time to win the Scottish Cup and secure a treble for Celtic.
After just nine minutes Aberdeen took the lead from a corner kick as Leigh Griffiths failed to track Johnny Hayes and the Irishman fired the ball into the back of the net.
Just one minute later the teams were level as Stuart Armstrong fired home his 17th goal of the season with a blistering left-footed strike.
Kieran Tierney was forced off after being elbowed in the mouth by Jayden Stockley which went unpunished and Tom Rogic came on for the young left-back.
Scott Sinclair had a brilliant chance just before half-time right in front of goal to give Celtic the lead from Griffiths’ fantastic cross but hit the ball well over the crossbar.
Celtic bombarded the Dons goal in the second half but were denied by the post, ‘keeper Joe Lewis, some fortunate last ditch defending and poor finishing.
Here are the player ratings from today’s game.
Craig Gordon 7/10
Made good saves from McGinn, Jack and Stockley in the opening 45 minutes. Denied Shinnie from distance in the second half.
Mikael Lustig 6/10
Quiet start to the game, gave away a silly foul on Hayes. Got forward quite a bit down the right flank to support Roberts. Dragged his shot wide from a corner kick. Massive chance to score at the back post but the ball went away from goal off his head.
Dedryck Boyata 7/10
Strong in the air to head the ball clear. Weak defending and allowed Logan to get passed him too easily. Good block to prevent Stockley getting a shot on goal. Free header from a corner and should’ve scored.
Jozo Simunovic 7/10
Good defensive play to clear the ball three times in the opening minute. Tried to play the offside trap and allowed Shinnie to run right past him and in on goal. Good defensive header from a free-kick to clear the danger.
Kieran Tierney 6/10
Beaten too easily in behind by Hayes but was strong several minutes later to shepherd the ball out of play. Made a good overlapping run but slipped as he delivered the ball. Went off injured after Stockley elbowed him in the mouth.
Scott Brown 6/10
Had one of his more difficult games in recent months in midfield and couldn’t get on the ball due to Aberdeen’s pressing. Didn’t help with McGregor moving to left-back which limited Celtic’s movement in central areas. Poor pass to McGregor which nearly cost Celtic dearly.
Stuart Armstrong 7/10
Good overlapping run but heavy touch saw the ball run out of play. Brilliant finish to level the scoring for his 17th of the season and for the third consecutive game. Creative all afternoon going forward.
Patrick Roberts 6.5/10
Inch perfect through ball to Armstrong and worked hard to win back possession on several occasions. Quiet in the game on the whole and needed to be involved more. Brilliant left footed effort which struck the post. Good run off Rogic’s shoulder but couldn’t find Sinclair or Griffiths at the back post.
Callum McGregor 7/10
Good link up play with Roberts. Decent effort on goal on the volley but just curled away from goal. Moved to left-back after Tierney’s injury which left a gaping hole in Celtic’s midfield. Brilliant challenge on Rooney to deny a goal scoring chance.
Scott Sinclair 6.5/10
Got down the line past Taylor well with a quick turn of pace to win a corner. Too quiet in the opening 45 and got on the ball more in the second half. Good counter attacking pass to Griffiths with the outside of his boot. Great run in behind the defence and tested the ‘keeper from Rogic’s pass. Good play cutting inside but Griffiths wasted the chance from the edge of the box. Missed two sitters from crosses by Griffiths in either half.
Leigh Griffiths 6.5/10
Should have tracked Hayes at the back post and allowed him to score. Good effort from a free-kick which went just wide of the target. Brilliant cross to Sinclair who should’ve scored. Shot deflected out for a corner after a quick counter attack. Wasteful effort just outside the box after some good play from Sinclair. Denied brilliantly by Lewis but wasted another chance moments later when he should’ve passed the ball.
Tom Rogic 7.5/10
Replaced Tierney before the half hour mark. Ineffective when he came on. Good start to the second half and a brilliant pass to Sinclair in behind the defence. Good hold up play and brought Roberts into play.
