Celtic reportedly agree fee with Konyaspor for Douglas
Celtic have reportedly agreed a deal to sign Konyaspor defender Barry Douglas, but face competition for his signature from English Championship side Wolves.
According to a report from Turkish news outlet Konyanin Sesi, Celtic have agreed a deal to sign the 27-year-old. The Bhoys are said to have agreed to pay £660,000 up front with a possible £130,000 in performance based add ons.
The left-back was born is Glasgow and played for both Queen’s Park and Dundee United before moving, first to Poland and then to Turkey.
The Mirror are reporting that Wolves are trying to hijack Celtic’s move for the left-back, although there is no word at this time if they have made an official offer.
Brendan Rodgers is hoping to get one more transfer completed before the Champions League qualifiers, so he’ll want to get this deal done quickly, if the reports in Turkey are correct.
With Kieran Tierney and Emilio Izaguirre currently at the club, if this deal went through it would likely mean the end of the road for one of the two current left-back’s in the squad.
