Celtic confident they will retain Armstrong
Celtic are confident of retaining influential midfielder Stuart Armstrong this summer, amid interest from the Premier League.
West Brom and Southampton are both thought to be admirers of Armstrong, along with newly promoted Brighton.
Boss Brendan Rodgers says that he is hopeful of Armstrong signing a new deal, despite stalling on it so far.
As quoted by the Birmingham Mail, Rodgers said this:
He’s in the final year of his contract and we hope he signs a new one.
I speak regularly with the boy and he wants to be here.
If his agent can speak with the club and organise a deal then that would be great.
Armstrong has one year left on his deal at Celtic, which has put his future in doubt coming into next season.
Celtic are desperate to keep him at the club after his superb 2016/17 season, as he scored 15 SPL goals in 31 appearances.
The Scottish international could play a key role in Celtic qualifying for the group stages of the Champions League, as the club play Linfield on Friday.
Keeping Armstrong at Celtic would be a massive bonus for Rodgers going into next season, as he looks to improve his side’s performances in Europe.
