A youthful Celtic side booked their place in the last eight of the Scottish League Cup with a five star performance against Kilmarnock, extending their unbeaten domestic run to 50 games.

Jonny Hayes was fouled inside the box and Leigh Griffiths stepped up to convert the penalty after just 13 minutes to give Celtic the lead.

Seven minutes later Anthony Ralston doubled the home side’s lead with a bullet header from a Griffiths corner kick which the Kilmarnock ‘keeper Jamie MacDonald couldn’t keep out.

Griffiths had a chance to make it three on 23 minutes but was denied by the ‘keeper only to bag his second of the game and his 88th for Celtic give minutes later after running onto Kieran Tierney’s through ball.

Kieran Tierney scored a stunning fourth goal from 40 yards on 65 minutes and Stuart Armstrong added a fifth five minutes later.

The only concern from the game will be the injury which Eboue Kouassi suffered towards the end of the first half.
