South African defender Rivaldo Coetzee, a reported summer transfer target for Celtic, suffered a hamstring injury during his side’s 1-1 draw this weekend.

The 20-year-old had a very mixed afternoon as he got on the scoresheet for Ajax Cape Town for the very first time before picking up the injury during their match with the Golden Arrows.

However, it doesn’t look like the injury will be too serious and Celtic shouldn’t be too perturbed by it if they do wish to sign him.

There are reports in South Africa which suggest that the player will fly to Glasgow some time this week to complete a move and that he is keen to test himself in the Champions League.

Celtic didn’t manage to advance past the group stages in the Champions League last year, in fact, they didn’t even make the Europa League as they finished bottom of their group.

However, after spending more time working with Brendan Rodgers and having made a few additions, Celtic will be confident of making a bigger impact in Europe this year.

If you think that the Hoops will do well in Europe and want to back them to do so, you can find a list of free bets here that you might want to take a look at.

Having won the domestic treble last year, Rodgers will be keen to put on a few better displays in Europe and additions like Coetzee, if he does sign, will hopefully give Celtic that bit extra to get over the hump.
