Boost for Celtic with key Bayern Munich star ruled out
Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski has been ruled out of Tuesday night’s game against Celtic.
The official Bundesliga website has confirmed that the striker has not travelled to Scotland.
The Polish forward had been hoping to shake off an injury in time to face Brendan Rodgers’ men, but will now miss out on the tie.
The striker was forced off during Munich’s win over RB Leipzig at the weekend, however, they do hope to welcome him back in time for their trip to Borussia Dortmund.
Juup Heynckes played down the seriousness of Lewandowski’s injury, but the striker joins a growing casualty list at the Bavarian side.
Both Thomas Muller and Franck Ribery are already sidelined for the game, but Kingsley Coman, who was also a doubt, has flown with the Bayern squad.
Celtic come into the game off the back of a 1-1 draw at home to Kilmarnock on Saturday, looking to upset the odds against the German champions.
