Ahead of Celtic’s Champions League group stage match away to Paris Saint-Germain, we at Read Celtic will role-play and predict the starting XI.
We will be playing the role of Brendan Rodgers and will be choosing the starting XI, as well as predicting how the team will line-up on the pitch.
It also includes a bit of insight into what we expect from each player, and what they can do to make the difference.
It’s looking more and more likely that Brendan Rodgers’ side will be competing in the Europa League after Christmas, which is a realistic target given the group they are in.
Another game against French giants PSG awaits the Hoops, and Unai Emery’s side have been unstoppable so far – scoring seventeen goals and conceding none.
Will need to be at the top of his game if he is to prevent the PSG attack from scoring more than once. Will also have to maintain communication with his back four throughout.
Mikael Lustig
Has been solid at the back recently. A good defensive display down the right-hand side could help out the midfield.
Dedryck Boyata
Is the best centre-back who is currently fit in the squad. Calm and composed on the ball and can keep the rest of the defence in check.
Nir Bitton
Will likely be picked to play alongside Boyata once again. May not be the best option to have in defence but his range of passing can benefit the team going forward at times.
Kieran Tierney
Gives his all for the team no matter what the occasion. Has broken the 100 appearances milestone and looks stronger than he ever has before.
Scott Brown
The skipper will be raring to go as he leads his team into another big European game. Always looks fresh going into these types of matches.
Stuart Armstrong
Has been selected over Ntcham in recent weeks and will likely been given the nod once again.
James Forrest
Was sublime in the Hoops’ last Champions League match against Bayern Munich. Got into good positions and made the crucial ball to Callum McGregor who slotted it home past Ulreich. A similar performance on Wednesday could catch PSG off-guard.
Tom Rogic
Was rested at the weekend given his return from international duty. A player like him could be needed in behind the striker to dictate balls out wide and through the opposition defence.
Scott Sinclair
Always looks lively out on the wing. Links up with Tierney and Dembele when looking to attack. Can turn-up with a goal or assist on his day.
Moussa Dembele
Could potentially cope better with the PSG defence than Griffiths. Has a better all round game and physically more imposing. Is also able to link-up with surrounding teammates and can get into tight spaces.
