Brendan Rodgers spoke positively of his side’s performance despite having to settle for a share of the points at Easter Road this afternoon.

A Scott Sinclair brace in the second-half seemed like it would be enough for the Hoops to see the game out, though a hectic five minutes in the latter stages saw Neil Lennon’s side battle back for a 2-2 draw.

Former Celt Efe Ambrose got on the scoresheet, followed by substitute Oliver Shaw who fired in from close range.

Rodgers was positive in his post-match interview, stating that his side played some good football though should’ve seen things through.

As quoted by Celtic’s official website, the Irishman said:

I thought we were very good today on the back of a tough game in midweek. We were 2-0 up going into the last 15-16 minutes of the game and we should have been probably four or five up.

From our defensive pressure in the game, they didn’t really have anything against us. There was one in the first half where (Martin) Boyle got down the right and got a shot but, apart from that, we had great comfort in the game as a team and, 2-0 up with 15 minutes to go, it looks as though we could go on and get more goals. But we stopped passing the ball and we defended a corner not so well.

Two-nil in football is most dangerous scoreline you can have as, at 2-1, from them being not in the game really, they have that momentum and can be free; there is no pressure they can just run and play. Our only disappointment was not seeing that period out, though we still had chances after that to win.

On reflection, I was really happy with a lot of the game – how we played, our composure – as it’s a tough place to come and play. They are a tough team, but I thought we were much the better team but without getting the result.

The Hoops are now 68 games unbeaten domestically, though some recent results haven’t been entirely uplifting for fans and their confidence.

In the three games against Hibs this season, the Hoops have scored eight while conceding six.

Rodgers’ side are now five points clear at the top of the table with a game in hand over second-place and next up in their packed December schedule is a home game against Hamilton on Wednesday night.
