Dembele believes Celtic can progress in the Europa League
Celtic striker Moussa Dembele believes his side can progress in the Europa League, Sky Sports report.
The Hoops have been drawn against Russian outfit Zenit St Petersburg for the round of 32 in the competition, with the fixtures set to be played in the New Year.
I think it’s a good team to play. As a footballer you have to be ready to play against any team and we will be ready. I think we’re good enough to make a mark on the competition, otherwise we wouldn’t be there.
This comes after they were knocked out of the Champions League after finishing third in their group. PSG and Bayern Munich progressed to the round of 16 of the elite competition, while Celtic dropped down to the Europa League. Belgian side Anderlecht missed out completely, having finished rock bottom of the group.
We were in the Champions League and it didn’t really go our way but we learn from our mistakes.
Now we have the chance to play in Europe after Christmas, so we need to train hard and make sure we are ready to compete.
Zenit are sure to provide Celtic with a stern test when the two sides lock horns in a two-legged tie in February. Now managed by former Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini, they sit in second place on the Russian Premier League table.
Celtic will head into the game in confident mood, though, and Dembele clearly believes his side can progress in the Europa League.
