Celtic interested in signing Besiktas defender Dusko Tosic
Celtic are reportedly interested in signing Besiktas defender Dusko Tosic when the January transfer window opens, according to Turkish outlet Fotospor.
He has, however, also been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur, who are apparently willing to pay Besiktas £8m to get him.
The 32-year-old would add competition at Celtic Park for places in the centre of defence whilst he can also play at left-back too.
Celtic are said to be hoping to pay around £3m for the Serbian defender, which is £5m short of the reported amount Spurs would be willing to spend as they look to add some cover for Toby Alderweireld, who will be out until February at the earliest.
With Tosic ,32, being in the latter part of his career, and with Besiktas having brought in a replacement in Domagoj Vida, he may wish to look elsewhere for more minutes and if that’s the case, he could prefer a move to the Scottish champions as his chances of forcing his way into the Tottenham side ahead of Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen, Davinson Sanchez and Eric Dier, seem remote at best.
If Spurs have indeed made an £8m offer, Celtic would almost certainly have to up their current offer to even have a chance of signing the Serbian international.
