According to The Daily Record, Celtic fan James McClean has admitted that he would do anything for a chance to play for the club he supports.

McClean has said that the famous win over Barcelona in 2012, that he attended, when the Bhoys managed to see out an incredible 2-1 win thanks to Tony Watt’s goal, has inspired him to one day be out on the Parkhead pitch playing for Celtic.

Speaking to the Celtic View, James talking of his admiration for the Scottish Champions.

It was beyond words really, although I missed the second goal. I was trying to get back down to Sunderland for training next morning and soon as I left the ground, I heard the place erupt.

I remember saying to my wife, while I have always wanted to play for Celtic, I wanted to do it even more so that night. I’m a Premier League footballer and leaving the ground that night, I was thinking I would give anything to play for Celtic.

McClean was central to the Republic of Ireland’s World Cup qualification bid and scored a huge goal against Wales to see them into the play-offs where they were eventually downed by Denmark.

Although, his quality is clear for Celtic fans to see, James is now 29 years of age and it would take a significant amount of money to draw him away from the premier league.

So a move could be possible if Brendan Rodgers wanted more quality on the flanks, especially with Patrick Roberts ruled out for around three months through injury, but a deal seems unlikely due to the money Celtic would have to fork out to bring McClean to the club.
