Ahead of Celtic’s return to the capital to face Hearts at Tynecastle, we at Read Celtic will role-play and predict the starting XI.
We will be playing the role of Brendan Rodgers and will be choosing the starting XI, as well as predicting how the team will line-up on the pitch.
It also includes a bit of insight into what we expect from each player, and what they can do to make the difference.
The Hoops’ last trip to Tynecastle came near the end of last season, where they ran-out as 5-0 winners in a match that secured Rodgers’ side their sixth Premiership title in a row.
Craig Levein’s men are unbeaten in their previous five games, drawing three of them and are currently fifth in the league table.
Will start as per usual. Shouldn’t have too much to do but will need to be alert.
Mikael Lustig
Was rested during the week. Will more than likely come back into the team after a few days rest.
Jozo Simunovic
Another player who was rested by Rodgers in the win over Hamilton. Rises to the occasion the majority of the time. His stature and defensive ability makes it difficult for opposing strikers to break through.
Dedryck Boyata
Will hope for a better performance on his return to Edinburgh after last weekend’s game against Hibs. Is more than capable of bouncing back and proving why Rodgers is such a big fan of his.
Kieran Tierney
Gives 100% on a constant basis and rarely puts a foot wrong. Will hope to cause Hearts plenty of trouble going down that left-wing.
Scott Brown
Not much needs to be said about the captain. Commits to the game and gives his all every time. Is a real handful for opponents given his ability to pick out a pass.
Stuart Armstrong
Got stuck-in on Wednesday and looked lively. Could this be the turning point in what has been an average season for the midfielder?
James Forrest
Been a worthy starter recently. Is capable of having a moment of brilliance.
Callum McGregor
Rodgers has seemed to favour McGregor/Ntcham over Rogic recently and that could continue. McGregor has shown how he can handle big game situations.
Scott Sinclair
A great finish against Hamilton too his goal tally to 16 this season. Hasn’t been at the top of his game this season but he’s shown that he can still turn up.
Moussa Dembele
If fit then Rodgers will more than likely opt for the Frenchman up top. His physicality and ability to play off defenders makes him a handful for the opposition.
