Celtic’s remarkable run of 69 games without defeat came to an embarrassing end as Hearts hammered them 4-0 at Tynecastle.
Leigh Griffiths fired a shot into the side netting on 23 minutes which proved to the best chance of the game for Celtic who lacked energy and any sort of shape throughout the game.
Teenager Harry Cochrane opened the scoring on 26 minutes with a shot arrowed into the bottom right corner to give the home side a deserved lead in the game.
Kyle Lafferty doubled Hearts’ lead with 35 minutes played after being played through on goal and firing the ball beyond the reach of Craig Gordon.
Less than three minutes into the second-half Hearts made it 3-0 as Jozo Simunovic made a horrific defensive error allowing Milinkovic to round the ‘keeper and roll the ball into an empty net.
Gordon gave away a penalty with 15 minutes remaining which was smashed home by Milinkovic.
Here are the player ratings for today’s game, if you really want to look at them.
Craig Gordon 1/10
Shaky with the ball at his feet once again and could have cost Celtic a goal with an awful decision to kick the ball off the attacker six-yards from goal. Continually gave the ball away to hearts inviting pressure onto him and his defence. Good save to deny Milinkovic from doubling Hearts’ lead. Terrible goalkeeping giving away a penalty needlessly.
Mikael Lustig 3/10
Stopped a certain goal with a header to clear Milinkovic’s cross.
Dedryck Boyata 1/10
Poor start to the game losing the aerial battle with Lafferty and misplacing a number of passes. Awful, just awful.
Jozo Simunovic 1/10
Poor defensively throughout. In no man’s land and should have stayed with Lafferty in the build up to the second goal instead of being drawn towards the ball. Horrendous defending for the third goal. Woeful game.
Kieran Tierney 4/10
Decent start to the game in both phases. Drove forward with the ball and supported Sinclair well. Slipped at a pivotal moment in the build up to the opening goal for Hearts allowing his man to cut inside. Taken off at half-time.
Scott Brown 4/10
Poor in midfield and let the game slip away from him and Hearts dictate the play.
Olivier Ntcham 4.5/10
Good start to the game finding pace and picking out a killer pass. Also used his strength to win back possession in midfield. Struggled as the game went on.
Callum McGregor 3/10
Poor in the game losing possession, poor control and struggled to create anything going forward.
James Forrest 5/10
Couldn’t get at his man early on which limited the Hoops’ attacking options. Beat Brandon easily a dozen times picking out Griffiths three times who failed to test the ‘keeper.
Scott Sinclair 3/10
Quiet game, venturing just offside from Brown’s through ball in the first half. Tried and tried in the second but it was too little late.
Leigh Griffiths 4/10
Few decent touches in and around midfield but rarely got the ball in the final third and couldn’t create anything. Played through twice by Forrest, blazed the first well wide but came close to scoring with the second hitting the side netting. Chances in the second half but couldn’t create anything.
Stuart Armstrong 2/10
Replaced Ntcham at half-time. Should have played in McGregor but opted to shoot and slipped when shooting. Poor in the game when he came on.
Moussa Dembele 2/10
Came on for Tierney at half-time. Didn’t make much of an impact.
Odsonne Edouard N/A
Replaced McGregor with just over 20 minutes to play.
