Commons says Celtic don’t need big signings in January
Former Celtic midfielder Kris Commons says Brendan Rodgers’ side don’t need big-name signings this month.
As reported by the Daily Record, Commons says he doesn’t expect to see huge sums of money being spent in January.
But do they need a marquee signing? I don’t think they do. You buy what’s going to make your squad better. Over the years Celtic have been renowned for bringing in a marquee signing but if it’s not going to make the squad better there’s no point.
Commons tipped Celtic for success this season without bringing fresh faces in January.
Celtic are in a much more stable condition now, they look like they’re going to win the Treble again, they look like they’re more than capable of giving anyone in Europe a run for their money on their day. They just need to keep ticking over.
Celtic have been busy in the transfer market, completing a deal for promising youngster Lewis Morgan, who returned to St Mirren on loan for the remainder of the season.
Marvin Compper also joined the club from Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig. Reports have suggested that Rodgers is not finished with his January business with loan deals also being discussed.
Erik Sviatchenko left the club for FC Midtjylland on loan, all-but spelling an end to his time at Celtic, while Jozo Simunovic is also being linked with a host of Premier League clubs.
Moussa Dembele, as ever, has been linked with a move away from the club in January but no deal has materialised.
