Celtic sign young Australian Leo Mazis
Celtic have confirmed the capture of Leo Mazis after the teenage attacker impressed during a recent trial with the club.
The Australian put pen to paper on a three-year deal after receiving his visa clearance.
Speaking on Celtic’s official website, the 21-year-old revealed his great excitement to play for a club like Celtic as he joins from Canberra side Belconnen United.
It was unbelievable when I got the call to say Celtic were offering me a contract. It’s always been my dream to play football at the highest level and Celtic are a massive club so I’m over the moon with this opportunity.
Mazis is now settling down to life in Scotland and has already started training with the development squad under the watchful eye of coach Tommy McIntyre.
Training has been unbelievable so far. I’ve loved every minute of it and I can’t wait to play some games.
All the boys have been great with me so I’m settling in well and coaches have been fantastic, I couldn’t ask for anything more.
My dream is to one day play for the first team but obviously right now I’m only concentrating on just getting settled and getting game time in the Development Squad. I need to find my feet a bit and take things a step at a time.
The club’s latest recruit will be looking to follow in the footsteps of fellow countryman Tom Rogic after he came to Glasgow from Australia and has gone on to become a real success in the first team.
