Celtic are set to face Zenit St Petersburg in the last-32 of the Europa League after the Scottish Champions finished third in their Champions League group.
Zenit will make the trip to Glasgow for the first leg on Thursday, with Celtic facing the long journey to Russia next week to play the return leg.
The Hoops last appeared at this stage of the competition in 2015, where they faced Italian giants Inter Milan. An eventful first leg at Celtic Park saw a 3-3 draw between the sides before Celtic were knocked out with a 1-0 loss at the San Siro.
Roberto Mancini was in charge of Inter that night and will return as manager of Zenit this year. His side were the top scoring team in the Europa League group stages this season and cannot be taken lightly.
Here’s a look at five of their best players who Celtic should be wary of ahead of the game.
Aleksandr Kokorin
The 26-year-old will be expected to lead the line for Zenit on Thursday.
Kokorin, who has been capped by Russia 48 times, is a tall striker who has scored 18 goals so far this season, with five coming in Europe. He looks to be a real danger to Celtic’s shaky defence.
Leandro Paredes
In midfield, Argentine Leandro Paredes will look to get on the ball and control the game for the Russians.
Signed from Roma for a hefty fee of around £20 million, Paredes has played 27 times so far this campaign and looks to be a quality outfit in the middle of the pitch.
Domenico Criscito
Zenit’s captain will be flying full-back Domenico Criscito.
The 31-year-old represented Italy at the World Cup in 2010 and will be looking to be an attacking asset for Zenit, as well a defensive one.
He will look to drive forward down the left side and unsettle Mikael Lustig who has been struggling for form recently.
Sebastian Driussi
Another threat for Celtic will be young forward Sebastian Driussi.
The 22-year-old has netted just three times this season, but is a top young talent who can certainly cause problems for the Celtic rearguard.
Emiliano Rigoni
As the top scorer in the group stages with six goals in six games, Emiliano Rigoni is a player Celtic must be wary of.
On the right wing, Rigoni will need some close attention from Kieran Tierney if Celtic want to prevent the floodgates opening.
