Moussa Dembele and Kieran Tierney’s goals helped Celtic regain their nine-point lead at the top of the table with a 2-0 over Aberdeen.
It was largely a scrappy affair at Pittodrie with two players sent off as Brendan Rodgers’ men came out on top.
Dembele and Tom Rogic had chances to score within 30 seconds after a terrific run from Scott Sinclair, however neither could direct the ball beyond the ‘keeper.
Olivier Ntcham came to scoring for Celtic on 34 minutes with a thumping effort on the turn that hit the post.
Two minutes later Dembele got his 10th goal of the season and his first in 2018 with a header from close range.
James Forrest beat his man before playing an inch perfect cross to the back post for the striker to get on the end of.
Next up for the Hoops is Dundee at Celtic Park on Wednesday night.
Here are the player ratings for today’s game.
Dorus de Vries 7/10
Decent game in the first half dealing with whatever came his way. Made a few good saves to keep Aberdeen out in the second.
Mikael Lustig 2/10
Gave the ball away needlessly then allowed May to run in behind him and get within inches of potentially scoring. Too slow to react to Mackay-Steven and was forced to take him down. Brilliant defending after a scramble in the box putting his body on the line but was back to very worst a few minutes later getting sent off.
Kristoffer Ajer 7.5/10
Good defensive work to recover and bail out Brown for a poor pass to Ntcham. Used his strength well to shepherd the ball out of play. Made some great runs forward from defence when his passing options were limited. Looked better in the centre of a back three than on the left side.
Jozo Simunovic 4/10
Decent game getting forward with the ball when there was nothing on up the field in the first half. Woeful in the second half under the high ball and was wayward.
James Forrest 7/10
Beat his man inside and down the line a number of times. Terrific run down the line and cross to put it on a plate for Dembele. Fantastic work as ever in the defensive phase of the game.
Scott Brown 7.5/10
Poor start to the game and almost gifted May a chance to go one-on-one with de Vries. Good run forward and fired just over the bar with a volleyed effort from inside the box. Came into the game and started dominating proceedings.
Olivier Ntcham 5/10
Brilliant pass to Rogic to put him through on goal. Hit the post with a great effort on the turn. Didn’t really do much else in the game today to influence it and was quite poor.
Kieran Tierney 7/10
Good run down the line beating his man and winning a corner. Relatively quiet game otherwise as he competed for space down the wing with Sinclair. As soon as the winger went off he got forward and won the game with a great goal. Relentless attitude.
Tom Rogic 5.5/10
Great chance to score but volleyed the ball straight at the ‘keeper. Came in and out of the game and looked a bit sharper today.
Scott Sinclair 5/10
Almost scored directly from a corner kick, just hitting the top of the bar. Great run at the defence and put it on a plate for Dembele. Almost non-existent in the second half.
Moussa Dembele 7/10
Should’ve scored from Sinclair’s run showing a lack of confidence in front of goal. Atoned for that making a great run to get on the end of Forrest’s cross to the back post. Great run on the counter attack and assist to Tierney.
Callum McGregor N/A
Came on for Rogic with 18 minutes to go in the game.
Jack Hendry N/A
Replaced Forrest with just under 15 minutes left in the game.
Odsonne Edouard N/A
Came on for Sinclair with nine minutes to go in the game.
