Kieran Tierney set to miss Motherwell and Scotland matches
Celtic and Scotland full-back Tierney will miss Celtic’s league clash with Motherwell and is also unlikely to feature in the two upcoming international friendlies against Costa Rica and Hungry, as reported by The Daily Record.
The 20-year-old has picked up a calf injury that looks to have forced him out of Brendan Rodgers’ side for the next couple of weeks but should see him return for Ross Country’s trip to Parkhead on March 31.
Tierney, who was deployed mostly as a right-back for Scotland under Gordon Strachan, will have to wait for his first start under new boss Alex McLeish, however, the former Scotland player will have plenty of other options in his squad with the likes of Andrew Robertson and Barry Douglas.
The loss of Tierney in the Celtic side could lead to a headache for Rodgers after his secondary left-back Emilio Izaguirre departed in the summer, although young full-back Calvin Miller may be given a run-out at Fir Park.
After scoring his fourth goal of the season to secure a 2-0 victory at Aberdeen last month, Tierney will now have a well-earned rest before Celtic look to wrap up another league title.
An injury to the youngster can come as no surprise after it was revealed he had played the most minutes in European football with a total of 53 appearances since the beginning of the season in July.
