Nir Bitton commits future to Celtic
Speaking to The Daily Record, Celtic’s Nir Bitton has made it clear he wants to remain at the club despite interest in his home country from Israeli side Maccabi Haifa.
The 26-year-old has rubbished any chances of returning to the Middle East by telling them they are wasting their time trying to lure him away from Parkhead.
I am not going back to Israel, it’s not on my agenda.
I am currently injured and I am under contract with Celtic until 2020. I am not interested in a transfer.
Bitton joined Celtic five years ago from FC Ashdod and in this most recent season was used as a defender in a number of occasions with Brendan Rodgers having to deal with numerous injuries.
Despite naturally being a midfielder, Bitton largely gave a good account of himself whilst featuring in the Champions League against the likes of Bayern Munich and PSG.
Bitton is expected to miss the remainder of this season with a knee injury that has left him out of action since February but will be a valuable player to have in the squad as Rodgers and his side aim for yet more glory next season.
