The game was largely frustrating for Celtic in front of goal boasting 28 efforts on goal, with 12 on target, but only two goals. Two lapses in defence led to two goals and could have been more only for Kilmarnock being wasteful and some last ditch defending.
Errors of this magnitude need to be eradicated next week against Malmo in the Champions League play-off or they will be punished and embarrassed. Malmo manager Age Hareide was in the stands and speaking to the media afterwards he would be pleased if Celtic performed at the same level next Wednesday at Celtic Park.
Thankfully, Celtic have Lustig and Boyata returning to defence and captain Scott Brown and Armstrong in midfield and attack. Questions marks were once again raised about Celtic’s commitment to the cause in Scottish football and professionalism as they laboured through the game in second gear, sometimes in first!
It’s now up to manager Ronny Deila to correct the mistakes that were made and go again this Saturday against Inverness CT to build some momentum for next Wednesday night.
