Many had hoped that Celtic would retain the services of centre-back Virgil Van Dijk under January at the earliest before cashing in on the Dutchman.
However, according to David Moss’ comments on his future when he spoke to Visionary Sports Development, the 24-year-old will be sold before the window closes in September.
Moss is currently Assistant Head of 1st Team Scouting at Celtic and was giving an insight into the recruitment and scouting that takes place behind the scenes for Celtic across Europe.
As quoted from VisionarySportsDevelopment, Moss said:
Central Defender Virgil Van Dyk will also probably be sold for in excess of these figures in the coming weeks.
That comes as a crushing blow for Celtic fans who had hoped to have seen him in the Hoops jersey for one more year before departing.
Amongst the clubs interested in the Dutchman are Southampton and Everton.
Southampton have signed two players from Celtic in recent year’s, including goalkeeper Fraser Forster last summer and midfielder Victor Wanyama in the summer of 2013 for a combined fee of £22 million.
