Celtic boss Ronny Delia is considering a swoop for Swansea City outcast and Napoli flop Michu.
Wales Online claim that the wantaway forward is high on Celtic’s agenda this summer and Delia wants to be clever with the deal, as the Scottish champions will not be able to afford Michu’s high wage demands; they have already been a stumbling block in his search for a new club.
They say that Delia could look to take Michu on loan with Swansea paying some of his wages – this could appeal to the Spaniard as Celtic may well be in the Champions League this season, as long as things go according to plan in their play-off tie against Swedish side Malmo.
Michu earned one cap for Spain off the back of stunning performances in his maiden season in English football, which saw him net 22 goals for Swansea. He was thought to have been the bargain of the century, costing the Swans just £2 million – but he soon wanted to leave the Liberty Stadium for bigger things, which is when his career hit a standstill. An unconvincing spell in the Serie A on loan at Napoli, coupled with a refusal to play for Swansea, means Garry Monk has shown him the exit door.
Celtic are looking to strengthen ahead of their potential Champions League campaign alongside their title defence and the 29-year-old striker could do a job in Glasgow if a deal can be agreed.
