Outcast Celtic striker Stefan Scepovic could be on his way out of Paradise as Maccabi Tel Aviv set to launch a £1.5 million bid for the polarised striker, according to the Daily Record.
The Serbian would link up with his fellow countryman Slavisa Jokanovic at the Israeli champions and could even face Celtic in the group-stages should both teams progress past the play-off round.
Scepovic’s departure from Celtic would pave the way for either Gary Hooper or Michu to join Celtic after both Premier League strikers were linked with moves up north to the Scottish Premier League champions.
Celtic will be looking to recoup most of the £2.3 million fee they paid to Sporting Gijon last September just before the transfer deadline window shut. Since the arrival of Nadir Ciftci from Dundee United, Scepovic’s tenure at Celtic was always likely to come to an abrupt end.
Celtic held onto a narrow 3-2 lead after a brace from striker Leigh Griffiths and a header from Nir Bitton and double from former Hoops flop Berget left the tie on a knife edge. Maccabi Tel Aviv are also on the brink of qualification after a 2-2 draw away to Swiss side FC Basel.
