Celtic have been given a stern challenge in the form of Ajax, Fenerbahce, and Molde in this season’s Europa League group stage.
Celtic were placed in pot two after a dismal showing against Malmo, where they crashed out after a 4-3 aggregate loss against the Swedish side.
The Scottish champions met Dutch side Ajax just two years ago in the Champions League, with both sides trading wins at their respective home grounds. The clash between Ronny Deila’s side and the Eredivisie outfit is sure to catch the eye of both sets of fans.
The draw has been hailed by goalkeeper Craig Gordon, who spoke to The Herald, believes that the difficult tests that await them will stand them in good stead for the future.
It’s a good draw with some good times and some very difficult opponents. That’s what you want to test yourself against. It’s something to look forward to.
Norwegian outfit Molde, who currently lie 7th in the Tippeligaen, are more than half-way through their season and will provide a difficult encounter for Deila’s young Hoops side.
Fenerbahce will also welcome Celtic to their iconic home in Istanbul, known for its fiery atmosphere and partisan crowd.
