Celtic midfielder Stuart Armstrong has pulled out of the Scotland squad due to a back injury.
The 23-year-old looked set to earn his first senior cap for the national side but an injury sustained a few weeks ago has left him no choice but to withdraw from the Strachan’s squad.
Ronny Deila did speak on the injury to BBC Scotland confirming the likelihood that he won’t get his first cap for the national team before Saturday’s game.
It is nothing big but big enough that he will miss the games, I think,” manager Ronny Deila said.
It is something that he has had for a couple of weeks, that is why he has been off the pitch a couple of times. So now we have an opportunity to rest him for a couple of weeks and get him 100% again.
Scotland have crucial qualifiers for Euro 2016 coming up against Georgia and Germany but will instead look to recover and be back for Celtic’s game against unbeaten side Aberdeen after the international break.
Since his arrival to the Hoops from Dundee United, Armstrong has impressed the Celtic and scored on his European debut against Inter Milan in February. This season, Armstrong has scored two goals in nine appearances, both coming against Inverness CT.
He has been a mainstay in the starting line-up and the move to Celtic an impressive form seems to have drawn the attention of former Celtic manager Gordon Strachan.
