Celtic are being linked with a move for Premier league striker Steven Fletcher from Sunderland.
The 28-year-old is on the fringes of manager Dick Advocaat’s squad and looks to be surplus to requirements at the Stadium of Light and could be leaving according to reports from the Daily Mail.
Fletcher has been regularly linked with a move back to Scotland since his move from current championship side Hibernian to Burnley back in 2009.
It is believed that the initial deal will be a season-long loan with the view to make the switch permanent after reviewing his performances in the Hoops shirt no doubt and whether he can add another option to Deila’s squad.
The Scottish striker has started just one game this season under Dick Advocaat despite a lack of results and a move up north could make sense for both parties, if an agreement can be made on his £40,000 weekly salary.
Goals have been a problem for Fletcher since his first season at the Black Cats when he scored 11 goals in 30 appearances and has managed just nine goals in his 61 appearances since the 2012/13 season.
