The latest summer signing Tyler Blackett has been praised by his former Manchester United teammate, who says the Englishman will fit right in at Celtic.
Blackett and Janko were both at Manchester United once upon a time and now are both in the ranks at Celtic. Janko joined in June and Blackett completed his own move on Saturday to link up with the Swiss right-back and was unveiled at half-time to the crowd at Celtic Park.
As quoted by the Daily Mail, Janko even went as far to say that his ex-United teammate can replace van Dijk at Celtic:
Yeah, he can do that. I think he’s just a great addition to the team because he brings pace and he brings power, and that’s what we need.Last week he texted me and asked me about the club, about the situation, how it is and everything. I told him good things. He was enthusiastic straight away. I didn’t have to convince him or anything. He just said: ‘I might come and hopefully the deal will go smoothly’ and now he is here so I’m glad.
We played a lot with each other. But he played most of the time on the left-hand side. He can play centre-back or left-back so he will be great for the club.
I think it’s definitely a big transfer, but Celtic is a big club so it’s not a surprise.
Tyler Blackett signed from Manchester United on a season-long loan with a view of making the deal permanent after this season.
If he can perform at a similar level to Jason Denayer, who also came on loan from Manchester last season, although, from City, Celtic could well get their replacement for van Dijk.
