Serbian striker, Stefan Scepovic has left Celtic just one year on from his deadline day move to the Hoops on a season-long loan.
Scepovic has struggled to get into the team this season since his move to Glasgow and the move was confirmed by Getafe’s twitter account who say he has signed having flown to Spain to complete the move.
The 25-year-old will join La Liga side Getafe who were looking for a striker all summer. It means Scepovic returns to the country that he played in when he first caught Celtic’s eye playing for Sporting Gijon.
Scepovic’s departure from Celtic would pave the way for another striker to join Celtic as Leigh Griffiths and Nadir Ciftci are the only recognised strikers for Deila’s side.
Celtic will hope to recoup most of the £2.3 million fee they paid to Sporting Gijon next year if Getafe choose to make the move permanent. Scepovic has struggled to break into the team this season and the outcast striker scored just six goals in 25 appearances last year and made just one appearance this year.
Since the arrival of Turkish striker, Nadir Ciftci from Dundee United, Scepovic’s time at Celtic was always likely to come to an abrupt end at Paradise.
