Celtic have confirmed the signature of 20-year-old midfielder Ryan Christie from Inverness CT for a fee believed to be in the region of £500,000 on a four-year deal.
Discussions on the sale of Christie had been on-going since Friday not long before their 3-1 win over St Johnstone and the singing of Tyler Blackett was confirmed.
Christie played earlier on this season against Celtic when the Hoops hammered Caley Thistle 4-2 and has moved the league champions. The transfer was confirmed by Inverness Courier with the midfielder going back on loan to Inverness CT with the option of being recalled to Celtic in January.
The Scottish playmaker was high on the list of Deila’s summer targets and had a bid rejected on Friday for £500,000 but a deal has been agreed and confirmed before tomorrow’s deadline at 23:00 BST in Scotland.
Inverness released a statement yesterday saying:
As a result of a further approach from Celtic FC, and following discussions with the management team and the player, the board of Inverness Caledonian Thistle FC can confirm that Ryan Christie has been given leave to travel to Glasgow to discuss personal terms.
Having come through the ranks at Inverness, Christie made 55 appearances and scored nine goals since making his debut against Celtic in December 2013.
