New Celtic signing Jozo Simunovic has revealed to the club’s official website his happiness at his deadline day move to the Scottish champions, and that he wants to continue to learn at Paradise.
The Croatian signed for Ronny Deila’s side from Dinamo Zagreb in the final hours on deadline day after paperwork issues had originally halted the transfer from going through.
Simunovic has been brought in as a replacement Virgil Van Dijk, who completed his own deadline day move to Southampton. The 21-year-old has stated that he still has a lot to learn and feels that Celtic Park is the best place for his development.
Every day I’ll try to rise up, learn and hopefully that will be good for me and the club. When I first found out that the club wanted me I was really happy.
It is the first time that a club has come in for me and I feel that in myself I want to do well for Celtic.
The 21-year-old had spent his entire career in Croatia with Zagreb before his switch to Glasgow, a club that is known for its domestic supremacy.
That fact should mean that the Croatia Under-21 international already has a winning mentality, something that will stand him in good stead ahead of his Celtic debut.
And the defender reflected back on his time in Zagreb before confirming his desire to continue his winning habits with the Hoops.
I have been at Dinamo for nine years and I joined when I was very young. It was a great time for me because Dinamo are the best club in Croatia.
We were champions every year so I want to continue to win lot of titles and that is one of the reasons I am here. I want to be a champion.
The towering defender could make his debut next weekend against Aberdeen at Pittodrie after the international break.
